Overview
Did you know that something as simple as changing oil in a car, bathing a dog outdoors or making a garden could produce water pollution? You might never have thought about it, but that's exactly what happens when things like oil and grease, soaps and fertilizers are washed off roads, bridges, parking lots, rooftops and other surfaces by runoff water from rain or melting snow.
This project will have you and your action team painting yellow fish on storm drains in your school’s neighbourhood and distributing fish hangers to help educate the community about how to preserve our precious water supplies by teaching about the impacts of pollution entering urban storm drains. Your class can join thousands of other youth in taking to the streets and educating Canadians about their water supply, the impact it has on the health of their community and the need to protect it.
